Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) is seeking an entry level Test Engineer to join our global Engineering team. This is an in-office position that may be based out of our Sydney office.

What You Will Accomplish Here…

The Test Engineer in our Systems team is part of our global Engineering department. You will have an opportunity to test software and hardware designs that impact the products and services within the gambling industry. You will be assigned tasks from a project manager and executes testing following scripts and processes, while learning a deeper understanding of game design and utilizing white and block box testing. You will also develop custom test strategies and employ exploratory testing to further increase the likelihood of finding software bugs. While experience in this specific role is not required, we are looking for someone with an eagerness to learn and a keen eye for attention to detail, who enjoys working in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.  

 

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develops an understanding of technical requirements and regulations.
  • Develops an understanding of client’s expectations and additional testing requests.
  • Learns the proper operation and function of various electronic gaming devices.
  • Learns and properly utilizes various internal tools used for project tracking and management.
  • Accurately develops and executes test methods for per assigned requirements.
  • Operates and utilizes multiple virtual machines through VMWare or Microsoft Virtual Machine.
  • Creates and read queries, understanding the database layouts using Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL.
  • Reads and edits files, manages permissions, and resolves basic network issues through Linux.
  • Effectively documents test results and discovered defects.
  • Manages projects and tasks against budgets and timelines.
  • Maintains an understanding of the customer’s needs and market position.
  • Proactively communicates the status of tests with all relevant internal and external parties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Experience, Education, Skills, and Credentials:

  • Knowledge of Java, C++, or other modern, object-oriented programming language(s) is required.
  • Linux experience required (Command line + GUI).
  • VMWARE or Microsoft Virtual Machine experience is required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, a similar field is required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel is required.
  • Database experience using Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL is strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Must have the ability to effectively read, write, and speak English fluently to communicate with other members of the team and clients.
  • Must have the ability to handle and organise multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of attention to quality, details, and correctness.

 

Location: This is an in-person, full-time position based out of our Sydney office.

Schedule: Normal hours are Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week.

Sydney Pay: AUD 40.14 per hour

Travel: Up to 5% travel may be required, to other Australia office locations or for field work.
