The Breakdown: 

As a Global Benefits Analyst at Burton Snowboards, you'll play a pivotal role in administering and enhancing our benefit and perk programs. You'll collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and outside providers and experts, leveraging your exceptional communication skills to ensure that our benefit offerings align with the needs of our diverse workforce. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing creative solutions to enhance our benefits package, working with teams across the globe to positively impact the Burton employee experience with a connection to Burton’s Business and Purpose Trail Map.

What You Get to Do:  

 

North America Benefits Administration

  • Administer the day-to-day operations of Burton’s group benefit programs (health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, flexible spending plans, HSA, and 401(k) plan).
  • Working closely with our broker, P&C leadership team, and other outside/third-party resources as needed, design, recommend, and implement benefit changes and enhancements.  Routinely examine existing programs and identify/implement continuous service, communication, cost and quality improvements.
  • Use Burton’s Trail Map and Purpose as inspiration for improvements or new programs.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and participate in the selection process for benefit providers, negotiating contracts and agreements as needed.
  • Collaborate with leadership to strategize and prioritize initiatives based on data-backed recommendations for organizational growth and development.
  • Utilize data analysis to draw actionable insights and recommendations for future benefits and plan design changes
  • Bring best-in-class, creative and unique ideas to the table for continued growth and improvement of the benefit offerings. Be a catalyst for clarifying and documenting Burton’s philosophy and strategic objectives related to all benefits and perks.
  • Communicate benefit offerings to new employees and assist with enrollment.
  • Own the configuration and maintenance of the Dayforce benefit module.
  • Be adept at communicating to a distributed workforce across the US and Canada.
  • Provide excellent customer service for employees with benefits questions or concerns. 
  • Document and maintain administrative procedures for benefits processes.
  • Serve as the primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators for day-to-day operations, claims, and invoicing.
  • Maintain, Troubleshoot and Monitor ongoing Integrations between Dayforce and benefit vendors.
  • Coordinate annual Open Enrollment in US and Canada.  Design communication plans and activities such as educational meetings for employees nationwide.
  • Develop communication tools to enhance employee understanding of Burton’s benefits package. Design and distribute materials for benefits orientations, open enrollment, and summary plan descriptions.
  • Interpret and administer leave programs and policies in accordance with the applicable federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, etc.).
  • Work directly with employees requesting leave to provide claim support and manage leave details.
  • Monitor government regulations, legislation, and benefits trends.
  • Work with brokers and benefit partners to maintain and improve internal Wellness programming.

 

Global Benefit & Perk Coordination

  • Be a catalyst and champion for identifying, designing, implementing, and maintaining benefits and perks which distinguish Burton as a unique and great place to work, and which result in higher levels of employee engagement and provide connection to the Burton’s Business and Purpose Trail Map.
  • Work closely with regional P&C teams to ensure consistent and high-quality benefits and perks on a global basis to include the following: employee pass program, service awards, local/on-site employee/culture events, pro-form programs, employee gifts, and others.
  • Partner closely with P&C and Company Leadership to help define the role of benefits and perks as part of the overall employee value proposition at Burton.
  • Establish, monitor, and support the development and distribution of consistent communication tools regarding Burton’s perks to be used in recruiting, and with the existing employee base.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain P&C budgets and variance reports for cost centers.
  • Provide back-up payroll support.
  • Support the Front Desk Coordinator with management of the Proform Program.


What You'll Bring to The Team:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent, or equivalent level of work experience
  • 4+ years of related experience, focus on benefits administration (to include some/all medical, dental, health savings accounts, life, and disability) strongly preferred. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a range of communication tools/channels/mediums.
  • The ability to work independently, including managing multiple projects and conflicting priorities while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others at all levels inside the organization, and with outside vendors/partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and objectively by making recommendations for improvements to processes and tools.
  • Experience handling complex and confidential/personal benefit challenges and questions.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate meeting times with colleagues located in various time zones globally.
  • Strong MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) skills. 
  • Proficient with reporting tools, and data analytics.
  • Proficient with Human Capital Management platforms.  Dayforce experience strongly preferred.

Travel: the position requires infrequent/minimal travel.

 

Work/Physical Environment:

This year-round salaried position is an onsite role based at Burton’s headquarters in Burlington, Vermont. The role is based in a typical, stationary office setting. Over 80% of the day will be spent sitting in one location. Aligned with Burton’s Stance on Remote Roles, this position does have flexibility for working remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
