Head of Finance

 

based in Edinburgh

 

 

YOUR PROFILE

You are known for your team spirit, efficiency and rigorous analytical skills. You are passionate about your job and enjoy working in a dynamic and, multidisciplinary environment. You are interested in putting your leadership skills forward to help support a fast-growing business with ambitions of becoming a leader in the renewable energy market in the UK. You are a fully qualified accountant with 10+ years of experience in multidisciplinary teams, active or looking to move into a business-driven challenge.

 

YOUR CHALLENGE

You and your team will be responsible for accounting, fiscal, finance and administrative processes. You will lead change management, training and development required within the team to improve our day-to-day work and reporting activities through the expansion of our activities. You will organise and optimise work within your team to make the best of each member under the leadership of the UK Finance Director. You will work in a multi-cultural matrix environment with colleagues from the European business unit (BU) based in France, as well as with Corporate colleagues based in Canada.

 

YOUR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting process, with the support of the members under his/her responsibility:

  • Day-to-day management of the finance team;
  • Maintain and check the Management Accounts for UK subsidiaries under both UK GAAP and IFRS accounting standards;
  • Financial reporting and analysis to various board levels;
  • Ensure compliance with standards, laws and regulations;
  • Promote the reliability of the accounts by complying with deadlines, procedures, standards and internal control principles;
  • Participate in the preparation of quarterly statements as part of the internal control process;
  • Supervise local tax returns in liaison with European tax manager;
  • Interface with the statutory auditors;
  • Set up and monitor process performance indicators;
  • Establish effective links with other European and Corporate departments, particularly within the Finance department.

 

Consolidation process, with the support of the members under his/her responsibility:

  • Participate in setting up appropriate internal control processes and carrying out periodic controls;
  • Implement and monitor process performance and quality indicators.
  • Analyse complex transactions (acquisitions, partnerships, and project financing)
  • Consolidation coordination from the UK into the wider group and intercompany reconciliations.

 

Treasury process, with the support of the members under his/her responsibility:

  • Carry out operational cash management;
  • Accurate control over cash flow processing;
  • Ensure cash supply to all UK subsidiaries, in liaison with Corporate Treasury;
  • Create an effective link with Corporate and European departments to enable cash flow forecasting.

 

Planning & Analysis process, with the support of the members under his/her responsibility:

  • Drive the budget planning and monitoring cycle:
  • Support the UK senior leaders in defining/revising and costing their objectives;
  • Responsible for UK annual budget planning, as well as for the quarterly and monthly budget processes and reporting.
  • Proactively identify risk management issues and work with the UK senior leaders and with the UK organisation's various stakeholders to establish a risk quantification process;
  • Analyse financing risk trends within the company, risk materialisation events and monitor the implementation of action plans.

 

Financing process, with the support of the members under his/her responsibility:

  • Ensure the implementation, coordination, and necessary follow-ups/reporting with lenders to manage financial and operational commitments of UK project financing (organic development and M&A);
  • Coordinate, with the Corporate and European colleagues, the digitalisation of the Finance function. Act as an ambassador of change on this matter.

 

Administrative process, with the collaboration of the UK Finance Director, UK Country Manager and UK Senior Vice President

  • Support the company's general services in relation to company administration and reporting;
  • Forward strategic thinking to support future company growth

 

 

YOUR TECHNICAL SKILLS

KNOWLEDGE

This role would suit someone who is an experienced Accounting/Audit Manager or equivalent at present, active in a Financial Controlling role and looking to step up, or currently working at Finance Manager level in a business environment.

Certifications: ACCA, ACA or CIMA or similar internationally recognized advanced accounting qualification.

Experience in the Renewable Energies sector would be a plus but not mandatory.

 

IT AND TECHNOLOGICAL SKILLS

SAP, Longview, Office Suite

 

LAWS, STANDARDS AND PROGRAMS

Consolidated accounting, UK GAAP and IFRS standards, tax regulations, internal control, treasury processes,

 

OPERATIONS

Budget process, robust financial controls, update financial systems.
