Position Summary:

The Systems Administrator is responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining infrastructure, software, Microsoft active directory and storage. This position develops and follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations involving complex infrastructure problems. The Systems Administrator also participates in road map activities, budget process and design and implementation of new technology solutions to support business requirements.

 

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Support the vSphere environments including activities such as, maintenance & troubleshooting.
  • Handle ongoing maintenance e.g., service pack installations, hot fixes, software upgrades, etc.
  • Have a general knowledge of server technologies, network and enterprise storage technologies.
  • Administer and maintain at least one complex operating system (Microsoft OS or Linux) environment in compliance with all standards.
  • Administer and maintain at VMware environment in compliance with all standards.
  • Responsible for data integrity, backup/restore, capacity planning, and disaster recovery procedure on assigned platform(s).
  • Has working knowledge of and may provide system support for at least two technical platforms (VMWare, HyperV, NetAPP, Pure Storage, Active directory, etc.).

  • Provide Tier 2 support and resolution of open IT issues escalated by Service Desk or Field Support teams.
  • Assist in the development of project plans for all system software upgrades.
  • Ensure that assets are responsibly maintained, inventoried and/or disposed of properly.
  • Serve as a technical contact on projects as assigned.
  • Troubleshoot technology issues, using various internal and external resources.
  • Generate innovative approaches and solutions to recurring tasks or problems
  • Document technical problems, resolutions, and processes for assigned tasks and projects.
  • Participate in post mortem process for problems as appropriate.
  • Follow policies and procedures for change and incident management.
  • Stay current on industry trends and new technologies and recommend future initiatives
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

 

Required:

  • 2-5 years providing high level, hands-on technical support of infrastructure platform(s)
  • High School Diploma

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Project Management experience
  • Relevant technical certifications
  • Experience with VMware vSphere, Pure Storage and Cisco UCS
  • Experience with scripting/automation skills (e.g. VB Script) and experience with WMI strongly preferred.
  • Experience with VMware View and/or VMware vCloud Director
  • Basic understanding of security concepts. (i.e. Active Directory, NTFS permissions, security auditing, security user contexts, application layer vulnerabilities, etc.).
  • Understanding of storage, network, and hardware technologies.
  • Experience in Windows and/or UNIX/LINUX operating systems.
