Driver Education Instructor with American Sign Language


(Full-Time/Flexible Hours Monday – Friday/Possible evenings)


** This position requires local travel to various locations in New Jersey

Travel will be up to 60% with mileage or a company car **

Our Career Pathways Connections program is a person-centered employment program for the Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and hard-of-hearing community in New Jersey.


The Driver Education Instructor will implement and coordinate the driver’s education program to support the Deaf and Hard of Hearing throughout New Jersey.

  • Travels throughout the State.
  • Communicates effectively using American Sign Language
  • Facilitates regular training sessions in a class setting and one-to-one.
  • Provide support services remotely when needed.



  • Implements and coordinates a driver’s education program to support Deaf and HOH individuals in studying for the written driver’s test.
  • Provide support to enroll in the driver’s test held regionally across the state.
  • Coordinates interpreting services and acts as an advocate in the local DMV offices.
  • Effectively manages a caseload of clients.



  • Bachelor’s degree in teaching or Deaf education preferred or other relevant education/experience.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate fluently in ASL.
  • Strong communication skills with Deaf individuals with limited ASL experience.
  • Must be comfortable working in a class setting or one on one.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.                
  • Outstanding organizational skills to be able to manage a caseload of clients efficiently.
  • Requires someone who can work independently with minimal supervision.
