Cash Management / Junior Accountant

Job Duties:

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Printing and verifying all location’s daily deposit summaries and importing them into the accounting system.
  • Recording daily bank entries.
  • Reconciling bank entries daily, and bank statements monthly.
  • Preparing and posting recurring entries.
  • Preparing online payments, ACH uploads and printing cheques.
  • Preparing monthly cash forecasts and advising the Accounting Manager when bank transfers or funding are required.
  • Contacting Moneris to handle problematic situations and chargebacks.  Notifying appropriate departments when chargebacks occur.
  • Preparing monthly commodity tax reconciliations and coordinating remittances to the appropriate reporting authorities.
  • Preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Providing backup support for Accounts payable when needed.
  • Performing other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Ensure adherence to Occupational Health & Safety, wellness and sustainability policies, procedures and programs.
  • Identify, assess, and control hazards within areas of responsibility.
  • Escalate any unresolved safety concerns to your manager, HR, Senior Management and the Health, Safety & Wellness Lead - North America.
  • Encourage early reporting of incidents and forward information to your Manager and HR immediately.
  • Ensure equipment is properly maintained.
  • Maintain relevant knowledge of health, safety, wellness and sustainability issues.
  • Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviors.

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree/Diploma in Accounting or a combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered.
  • Intermediate Excel skills.
  • Customer Focus.
  • Quality Orientation.
  • Must possess both oral and written communication skills.
  • Problem Solving, interpersonal and attention to details skills.
  • Accountability and Dependability.
  • Team oriented and data entry skills.
  • Excellent work ethic and drive to continuously improve.

 

Working Conditions

  • Office environment, shop facilities, and the yard.
  • Manual dexterity required.
  • Required to sit or stand for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to lift 40lbs (Case of paper, etc)
  • Working in inclement weather and in noisy areas.
