Shop Associate

Summary 

​​Responsible for preparing/modifying woodand metal doors specific to the instructions of each order.  Some preparations require permanently joining metal parts using high heat application to form a permanent bond. Others require the use of power tools such as circular saws, jig saws, drills, and sanders.​ 

Essential Functions 

• ​​Utilizing measuring tools to mark and prepare the material 

• ​Using saws, drills, and other power tools to createthe necessary finished product 

• ​Remove any rough edges created during the modification process 

• ​Use electrical currentsto create heat and bond metals 

• ​Join beams in the construction of metal frame pieces  

• ​Weld materials such as steel and titanium 

• ​Use a rod and heat to join metals 

• ​Operate welding machine that feeds wire to bond materials 

• ​Use molten metal to join two pieces of metal 

• ​Plan work by interpreting shop orders 

• ​Select and set up welding equipment 

• ​Ensure welds meat standards and specifications 

• ​Packagefinished product for transport 

• ​Interpret scope of work from documents detailing tasks to be completed 

• ​Wear appropriate safety equipment at all times 

• ​Assist Shop Manager as required 

• ​Other relative duties as assigned ​ 

Minimum Qualifications 

• ​​High School Diploma, or an equivalent combination of education/experience  

• ​Current and valid US driver’s license preferred 

• ​At least 1 yearprior experience in a fast pacedproduction/manufacturing environmentpreferred 

• ​Must pass pre-employment background check or drug test. ​ 

Knowledge, Skillsand Abilities 

• ​​General knowledge of warehouse manufacturing 

• ​Must be able to work as a team and at times independently 

• ​Must be able to follow directions 

• ​Work in a fast-paced environment, completing multiple duties with accuracy, shifting from one to another with frequent interruptions and competing deadlines 

• ​Exercise sound judgment, work independently and prioritize with minimal supervision 

• ​Must have basic hand and power tools including:hammer, screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, and  cordlessdrills 

• ​Knowledge of proper safety practices when handling products, toolsand power equipment 

• ​Ability to read and interpret basic mathematical measurements and effectively read and use a tape measure 

• ​Must be able to work overtime as needed 

• ​Must have reliable transportation to and from work 

• ​Detail-oriented 

• ​Ability to report to work on time​ 

Physical Demands 

​​Must be able to stand and walk for much of the day.  Spends more than 2/3 of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping, using hands and reaching. Spends approximately 1/3 of time walking and talking/hearing. Frequent lifting required of items 25-50 pounds. ​ 

Work Environment  

​​Other conditions may include proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery and using various tools and hardware. Worker issubject to frequent heavy lifting.​
