Distribution Warehouse Maintenance Technician

Dorel Home is a dynamic and innovative home furnishings manufacturing company committed to leveraging data-driven insights to enhance decision-making processes and drive business success. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Maintenance Technician to join our growing team. This position will help to maintain company assets, performing needed repairs, and preventative maintenance efforts. This position will be onsite at the Ontario, CA, warehouse.

Job Functions

  • Provide maintenance support to operations - promptly respond to calls and minimize downtime of essential equipment
  • Complete assigned tasks with a sense of urgency and avoid downtime and order parts needed to complete repairs or projects assigned
  • Complete assigned periodic maintenance checks and follow up on repairs needed found during these checks. Order parts as needed
  • Complete special projects as assigned
  • Report progress and equipment needs for projects to the Warehouse Manager
  • Make repairs immediately on any safety issues found.
  • Take initiative to make repairs on all issues found during the shift
  •  Clean shops and maintenance areas daily as you go and at the end of each shift
  • Ensure that all tools are accounted for, and lifts are locked out in the shop.
  • Other tasks as directed

Experience and Necessary Skills

  • Maintenance Background
    • 2 Years of experience in facility maintenance
    • 1 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic, working with building assets to include dock doors, CEF’s, HVAC, dock plates, electrical, forklift mechanic experience preferred
    • Knowledge & Experience with Cal Osha requirements and certified trainings
    • Safety
    • Prior welding experience
    • Heavy Equipment
    • Forklift Equipment repairs PM’s Clamps, Cherry Picker, and Ottawa Yard truck experience
    • Facility Maintenance including: Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Building Inspections, Permiting
    • Experience in interpreting wiring schematics, including hydraulic schematics
    • Material Handling
    • Hazardous waste knowledge
    • Comply with all company policies and guidelines
  • Education
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Some College or Vocational Schooling is preferred, especially in electrical or mechanical engineering, welding, or machinery.

    • General Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

    • Able to communicate maintenance needs or issues to non-maintenance team members in a clear and concise way
    • Attention to detail
    • Math and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work independently and prioritize workload.
    • Ability to work with others and function on team environment
  • Physical Requirements
    • Those typical of standard warehouse conditions.
    • Position requires frequent standing, walking, lifting, pushing/pulling, and kneeling.
    • Frequently required to lift 50 lbs. or more.
    • Must be in generally good physical condition, strenuous physical work is occasionally required.
    • Frequent use of seeing, coordination, and hearing abilities.
  • Potential Hazards
    • Those typical of standard warehouse conditions.
    • Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures, high voltage, loud noises, and heights.
    • Protective Equipment required.
    • Use of power tools required and large machinery
  • Hours
    • Normal Shift: 
    • Must be willing to adjust schedule to accommodate positions demands.
