GENERAL SUMMARY OF THE JOB

The Maintenance Technician will be an off shift position and responsible for all maintenance applications predictive and preventative; heavy machine repair for plant operations and general building maintenance. Candidates must have a 2-year technical degree or 8 years equivalent experience; proficient troubleshooting skills; and maintenance experience associated with heavy industrial machinery and electrical repair.  Candidates will be responsible for the qualification of all repairs, prior to production and maintaining a clean, safe and organized workplace.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Install, maintain, and repair manufacturing equipment.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform advanced electrical repairs. 

  • Complete in depth preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on various types of equipment.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform advanced electrical repairs. 

  • Operates/maintains machine shop equipment, hand tools, measuring, and diagnostic equipment.

  • Operate tool room equipment as it pertains to maintenance required.

  • Ensure proper records are kept and maintain warranty compliance necessary for all equipment.

  • Fabricates, rebuilds, designs, and installs machine parts.

  • Mechanical installation and troubleshooting of oil lubrication, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

  • Maintain the facility's compressed air and drying equipment.

  • Install and troubleshoot electrical motors and controls. 

  • Install, maintain, and repair hydraulic systems.

  • Constructs electrical control panels from various schematics.

  • Implement ways to reduce costs, increase productivity, and eliminate waste.

  • Determine to make or buy repair parts then work with outside vendors to source identified components.

  • Install, design, troubleshoot, and set existing parameters and troubleshoot variable drive systems.

  • Train employee’s the skills required to repair manufacturing equipment and electrical controls.

  • Work with the engineering team to design and install specialized equipment.

  • Flexibility to work all required hours with little or no advanced notice.

  • Follow safe working practices and procedures.

  • All other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

 

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

 
  • 2-year technical degree or 8 years equivalent experience.

  • Ability to use and understand various precision measuring tools.

  • Ability to design and upgrade equipment / process.

  • Safe operation of shop equipment including but not limited to welding equipment, brakes, shears, mills, drill press, lathes, metal saws, hones, surface grinders etc.

  • Working knowledge of blueprints and schematics.

  • Proficient with various welding and cutting techniques.

  • Knowledge of plant piping layout (Gas, Air, Water). 

  • Ability to design and upgrade equipment and processes.

  • Proficient with rebuilding manufacturing equipment with minimal supervision.

  • Must possess fork truck certification.

  • Demonstrated project management for Continuous Improvement initiatives.

  • Uses multiple techniques to rebuild equipment to OEM specifications.

  • Proficient with electrical panel components and ability to diagnose electrical circuits.
