The Fund for Public Health in New York City (FPHNYC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the health and well-being of all New Yorkers.  To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNYC incubates innovative public health initiatives implemented by DOHMH to advance community health throughout the city. It facilitates partnerships, often new and unconventional, between the government and the private sector to develop, test, and launch new initiatives. These collaborations speed the execution of demonstration projects, effect expansion of successful pilot programs, and support rapid implementation to meet the public health needs of individuals, families, and communities across New York City.

 

Program Overview

WorkWell NYC is an innovative workplace wellness team servicing over 350,000 City of New York employees. WorkWell NYC supports agencies to develop workplace-based programming and innovative, sustainable workplace wellness infrastructure. WorkWell NYC offers Citywide programming in person and digitally — live and on-demand — in five areas: prevention and chronic conditions, physical fitness, mental well-being, nutrition, and health equity.  

 

Position Overview

WorkWell NYC seeks an independent and highly motivated Program Evaluation Fellow to provide monitoring and evaluation support for a variety of worksite wellness initiatives that aim to improve the health and well-being of City of New York employees.

 

The WorkWell NYC Program Evaluation Fellow will support program monitoring and evaluation through data entry, tracking program outcomes, and developing systematic reviews for relevant research. The position requires the candidate to work 20-25 hours per week and will be compensated at a rate of $18-20/hour depending on experience. The candidate will begin as soon as possible and ideally commit through June 2025. Potential to extend the internship will be based on performance.

Responsibilities

Projects and responsibilities will include:

  • Researching innovative and effective workplace wellness programming in relevant topic areas
  • Working with the Program Evaluator to support successful monitoring and evaluation of workplace wellness programs (i.e. physical activity challenges, vaccination clinics, and chronic disease prevention)
  • Compiling, entering and summarizing data
  • Create and present reports on summarized data for ongoing and completed programs
  • Attend staff meetings and other WorkWell NYC meetings as requested by their supervisor
  • Other program support, as assigned

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • Have a strong skill set in data entry and management, specifically in Microsoft Excel; proficiency in other statistical software like Stata, R, SPSS is a plus
  • Be highly attentive to detail and meticulous in data entry and management
  • Be a highly motivated self-starter who is flexible and able to balance multiple assignments with deadlines
  • Have taken at least one course each in program evaluation, statistics, and epidemiology
  • Have previous experience with researching and developing systematic reviews
  • Have previous experience with program monitoring and evaluation
  • Have previous experience with the City of New York
  • Have pervious experience with health and wellness promotion programs
  • Able to participate in external agency/site-based health forums (i.e., health fairs, educational programs) to promote and/or evaluate WorkWell NYC worksite programs

Salary

$18.00 - 20.00/Per hour

Work Schedule

9:00 am – 5:00 pm  flexible

In-office with Hybrid optional

Residency Requirements

You must live in New York City Tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT) in order to be considered for a position at FPHNYC.
