Job Title: 1st Shift Mixing Operator (C)

Reports To: 1st Shift Production Supervisor

Location:  Oswego, IL 

Hours: 6:00am – 2:30pm

Differential: No

 

Position Overview:  

Responsible for mixing ingredients according to working instructions, mixing BOM within quality and safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Verify correct ingredients and correct amounts are staged for the batch run.
  • Placing ingredients in mixer for processing.
  • Check to see if re-work should be added to the batch and add accordingly.
  • Follow BOM dump sequence.
  • Set-up sifter for product discharge pulls if required, ensuring correct screen size and magnets are in place.
  • Filling, weighing, labeling, and sealing product.
  • Clean and wash mixers, screens, and magnets between batches or as specified.
  • Dismantle and clean any accessories and equipment between batches.
  • Collect samples for lab testing; run viscosity testing on a certain product.
  • Remove trash and keep the area clean of clutter and standing water.
  • Document activity on production report or RF (barcode system).
  • Communicate any “out-of-norm” occurrences.
  • Set-up staged and batched product.
  • Observe safety rules and wear personal protective equipment.
  • May manually pack/fill drums and/or pails as required.
  • May operate a forklift as required.
  • Reports any product quality deviations or mechanical failures.
  • Cleans work area and equipment at end of the shift.
  • Complete all BRC training defined and made available for the currently assigned role.
  • Responsible for attending all training made available assuring full understanding of the training and ability to perform trained activities.
  • Responsible for the coordination and review of specific functional area BRC criteria. Ensure BRC protocols are implemented and audited as required.
  • Mixing operator C is able to Mix on at least 1 Mixer in the department
  • Ensure safety, quality, legality, and authenticity of products in accordance with regulations and standards, as this role dictates.
  • Perform all duties assigned by Supervisor

 

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Education/GED Preferred-not required; one-year related experience or training and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

  • Communication Skills

It is essential to have excellent communication skills, verbal and written.

Ability to read and follow written work instructions.

 

  • Computer Skills

Perform limited data entry into manufacturing software system

 

  • Mathematical Skills

Must have basic math skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

 

  • Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

 

  • Other Qualifications

Must be able to complete company’s Forklift Certification program

 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk to communicate and listen effectively. This will require both office and plant floor environments. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee will occasionally need to operate and drive a forklift or electronic pallet jack to transport materials or goods.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to cold temperatures in a refrigerated cooler or freezer.
