Position Summary:
Reporting to the Manager, Research & Development, the Food Scientist leads Griffith Foods Canada’s Research & Development projects to develop new and optimized products for key clients that support the overall Griffith Foods business strategy.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manages R&D projects and conducts ongoing scientific experiments contributing to new products and technologies.
- Offers recommendations for new products, processes, techniques, or solutions.
- Operates specialized equipment, evaluates materials and products, and assists in production trials as required.
- Communicates professionally with all departments, clients, and suppliers.
- Maintains GLP's, GMP's, and accurate laboratory records.
- Provides leadership and training to junior scientists.
- Participates in sensory panels.
- Participates in customer presentations.
- Participates in internal cross-functional teams to assist with special projects as assigned.
- Responsible for maintaining the security of all information regarding product formulas and related confidential information.
- Ensures a clean and safe work environment.
- Complies with all product safety, regulatory, and quality requirements, and with all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Sciences degree in Food Science or related technical degree.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in Research and Development or related experience within the food industry.
- Experience working with Food Service/QSR and Seafood Processors is considered an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Travel as required.
