Internship - Financial Reporting STAT Accounting

Security Benefit (SB), a leader in the retirement market, is seeking a STAT Accounting Intern to join the Finance Team.  This role offers hands-on experience in statutory accounting, where you will assist with financial reporting, compliance, and regulatory filings. This position will be based in our Topeka, Kansas office.  SB associates are working in a hybrid environment with both remote and on-site work.

Duties and Responsibilities may include:

• Assist in preparing statutory financial statements and reports.
• Support the reconciliation of accounts and ensure accurate financial data.
• Participate in the preparation of regulatory filings.
• Analyze and compile financial data for audits.
• Assist in month-end and year-end close processes.
• Maintain and organize financial records.

Eligibility

Students eligible for the internship will be current, fulltime students available to work at least 19 hours a week, beginning as soon as possible.  Student will be expected to work during and in between semesters and up to full-time during the summer. This is not a summer only internship. 

Qualifications:

• Full-time student in accounting and/or finance with at least a 3.5 GPA in majors. Current junior or senior preferred
• Willingness to develop industry-related knowledge
• Proficient with MS Excel and Word
• Strong analytical, problem solving, decision making, and organizational skills
• Ability to think objectively and analytically
• Ability to work with various levels of management
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
