Overview

 

Leading the charge in advancing our plant's technical excellence, the Technical Manager is responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of the manufacturing plant, ensuring that engineering, maintenance, and continuous improvement processes are optimized for safety, efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. This role involves managing a team of engineers and technical staff, coordinating technical projects, and driving innovation to support the plant's strategic objectives.

 

Project Management: Ensure the successful implementation of technical projects, including automation, capital expenditures, and process improvements.

 

Team Development: Develop and mentor technical staff, promoting a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

 

Problem Solving: Address and resolve technical issues that arise during production.

 

Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure technical operations support overall plant efficiency and productivity.

 

Responsibilities

 

Safety

 

  • Champion a safety-first culture across technical operations
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive safety features and programs
  • Identify and mitigate potential safety risks, conducting regular audits and inspections

 

Quality Assurance

 

  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with quality standards and regulatory requirements
  • Implement quality control measures and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality
  • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions

 

Technical Leadership

 

  • Provide technical direction and leadership to the engineering, maintenance, and continuous improvement teams
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement with a focus on the automation of Hytrol processes
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technological advancements

 

Project Management

 

  • Oversee the planning and execution of technical projects, including capital expenditures and process improvements
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals

 

Process Optimization

 

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance productivity and efficiency
  • Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies to reduce waste and improve operations
  • Monitor and analyze process performance metrics and drive initiatives to achieve performance targets

 

Maintenance and Reliability

 

  • Oversee the maintenance and facilities team to ensure equipment reliability and operational efficiency
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life
  • Manage the maintenance budget and control costs

 

Team Development

 

  • Recruit, train, and develop technical staff to build a high-performing team
  • Provide mentorship and support to team members, fostering professional growth and development
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to improve team performance

 

Budget and Resource Management

 

  • Develop and manage the technical department budget, ensuring efficient use of resources
  • Allocate resources effectively to support project execution and operational needs
  • Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures

 

Collaboration and Communication

 

  • Work closely with the production, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless operations
  • Communicate technical issues and project status to senior management and stakeholders
  • Foster a collaborative environment and promote open communication across departments

 

Qualifications

 

  • Experience: At least 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial role
  • Certifications: Professional Engineering (PE) license, Lean Six Sigma certification, or other relevant certifications are a plus
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, engineering principles, automation technologies around metal fabrication and maintenance practices
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage complex technical projects from conception to completion on budget and on time
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team
  • Communication: Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Continuous Improvement: In-depth knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies
  • Budget Management: Experience in managing budgets and controlling costs
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

 

Education

 

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) and Master’s degree or MBA is preferred
