Job Summary:

As the Power BI Developer at kdc/one, you will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining Power BI solutions. This includes collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and partners in the end-to-end process of developing data-driven insights dashboards to support business decisions. You will also be responsible of establishing development and deployment standards and to help align current and future D&A solutions to such standards.  You will also be interacting with external partners to make sure new development and deployment standards are consistently applied and followed.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leading D&A Power BI Solution development, deployment, and maintenance: Gathers business requirements for Power BI apps and dashboards and translates them into technical specifications. This also involves determining which dashboards will be designed and built internally vs. externally.
  • Establishing development standards: Ensures development and deployments standards are implemented and followed to ensure consistency across D&A Power BI Solutions, data management, data architecture and data infrastructure.
  • Power BI Development: Design, develop, implement, and expand Power Bi dashboards by performing development and optimization activities. This also includes investigating data issues within Power Bi solutions, communicating and notifying the end-users and proposing solutions to address the issues.
  • Power BI Governance: Assist with assessing and designing the Power BI governance and Power BI development and management framework across the organization.
  • Data Quality: Establish, design, and implement procedures for data quality tracking and for improvement by working in collaboration with the business stakeholders. This also includes working with the business to deliver accurate, high-quality dashboards in the D&A Power BI solutions.
  • Dashboarding and Reporting: Design, develop and maintain dashboards and reports that are providing data-driven insights to support business decisions. This also involves supporting the business in correcting data quality issues at the source.
  • Strategy And Planning: Develops short-term tactical D&A Power BI solutions to help achieve long-term objectives aligned with D&A Strategy and D&A roadmap.
  • D&A Power BI Architecture: Assist in designing scalable and maintainable Power BI data architecture. This also includes work on modernizing current kdc/one data stack towards a cloud data warehouse solution.
  • Power BI Training and Coaching: Develop and implement trainings, dashboard templates and coaching sessions to help business users master Power BI and to enable self-service BI with Power BI

 

 

Education Required:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, computer science, data science or related field, or equivalent work experience. Academic qualifications or professional training and experience are also desirable.

 

Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Power BI development and data management.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with data visualization tools
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with relational and dimensional databases.
  • Familiarity with ETL processes, modern data warehouse tools

 

 

Skills Required:

  • Power BI development and administration knowledge
  • SQL knowledge.
  • Knowledge of data modeling principles.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage resources for a specific project.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills: time management and planning.
  • Familiar with big data technologies and modern Cloud Data warehousing tools.
  • Knowledge of trends and developments in the fields of data visualization and data analytics.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills. Bi-lingual (French/English) preferred.
  • Passionate about problem solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technology and tools.
