BASIC FUNCTION

 

Manage the compounding and pre-weigh department to ensure the manufacturing of high-quality bulk per manufacturing instructions and schedule.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Manage/lead all day-to-day activities in compounding department.
  • Ensure adequate resources are in place to meet customer demand. Hire/terminate resources required to ensure high quality product and timely delivery of finished goods.
  • Lead, train and guide compounders and pre-weighers in the company policies and procedures to weigh and manufacture high quality bulk products.
  • Establish a well functioning multi shift operation to drive efficient use of assets.
  • Recommend training guidelines to maximize department efficiency.
  • Ensure work assignments are issued daily.
  • Facilitate a daily and weekly planning meeting to enhance communications with other departments, and ensure all documentation, raw materials and resources are available to execute the plan.
  • Ensure that all production procedures and guidelines are being followed to ensure accurate measurements and mixing requirements.
  • Ensure batches are made “right the first time”-follow up, record and investigate the root cause for out of spec batches – implement corrective actions to ensure the next batch meets spec without rework.
  • Make recommendations to Process engineering team for improvements to batch making instructions – hold debrief sessions to build consensus and ensure changes are incorporated in the instructions.
  • Review and approve completed batch master records for accuracy and proper compliance.
  • Maintain adherence to cGMP’s (current Good Manufacturing Practices) and SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) for the cosmetic industry.
  • Ensure proper cleaning and sanitizing procedures are followed for both the equipment and the department.
  • Recommend capital expenditures required to improve department efficiency and timeliness.
  • Coordinate installation of new equipment, validation work and removal of obsolete equipment.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair of equipment as required.
  • Ensure the entire area is well maintained, cleaned, and sanitized at all times.
  • Prepare analytical reports as required by management; department efficiency and productivity levels.
  • Create/update SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Prepare monthly KPI’s for the department and share with management.
  • Maintain inventory of consumables and place orders as needed.
  • Provide necessary paperwork to the logistics team to coordinate bulk shipments.

 

SKILLS & ABILITIES            

 

  •  Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Basic use of the English Language.
  •  Possess knowledge of proper use of weigh scales.
  • Certified forklift driver.
  • Knowledge of use of radio frequency devices (RF scanner/guns)
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative.
  • Scientific Math Aptitude/Strong Analytical Skills
  • Detail oriented with impeccable organizational skills.
  • Must be familiar with multiple phase batch making.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently, self-motivated.
  • Experienced in producing batches using a Batch Master Record System.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow given recommendations of SDS sheets (Safety Data Sheets).

  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time (heat/cold associated with a manufacturing environment). The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
