Summary:

The Facilities Technician focuses on the functions of facility equipment and buildings and completes all work in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP) and work instructions (WI), and all state, local and other applicable codes.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform periodic checks as per plan on all facility equipment to ensure that the equipment is operating normally.
  • Performs general building repairs including roofing, flooring, drainage or leaks, brick/mortar, drywall, painting and doors
  • Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on building or grounds as required.
  • Perform restroom repairs, sinks, lavatories, etc.
  • Perform plumbing and carpentry tasks.
  • Acts as point of contact for outside vendors and contractors on special projects.
  • Orders parts as needed.
  • Conduct activities to manage facilities for special events.
  • Analyze equipment malfunctions and initiate corrective actions to return equipment to proper operating order.
  • Perform industrial electrical activities such as wiring, wall outlets and lighting.
  • Operate shop equipment, such as drills and bench grinders.
  • Read and interprets blueprints and manuals.
  • Operates powered industrial equipment adhering to all safety regulations.
  • Completes SOPs, Work Instructions, and other paperwork according to established company policy. 
  • Maintains confidentiality of customer information, and other sensitive and confidential information. 
  • Exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works overtime as needed due to workplace demands.  Performs other related duties as required.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Two (2) years facility maintenance experience in a production environment.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of: FDA Good Manufacturing Practices and OSHA Safety Requirement; boilers, chillers, air compressor operations.
  • Skill in: electrical, pneumatic, plumbing, welding, carpentry, problem solving, analytical methods, technical, written and oral communication, interpersonal, team-building, and organization.
  • Ability to: read, comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions including Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions; wear required PPE as needed (list any specific PPE for the role); work as part of a team;  develop and maintain good working relationships; read and interpret blueprints and manuals; be a self-starter; have a strong work ethic; perform multiple tasks simultaneously and manager time efficiently and effectively; plan ahead to minimize potential issues as well as to meet company growth objectives; work overtime and weekends as required.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds manually. 
  • A climate-controlled manufacturing environment; the noise level is usually moderate.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time in front of a computer, stand, walk, use hands to handle and feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, crouch, talk, hear, push and pull
  • Exposure to frequent movement of motorized equipment throughout the facility, including electric pallet jacks, forklifts, etc.
  • Ability to wear hairnet, safety glasses, long pants, steel toe shoes/boots and any other uniform standards.
