Summary:

The Maintenance Mechanic ensures continuous improvement of overall equipment effectiveness building people capability, setting and improving equipment and process standards, and improving process settings for maximum flexibility in processing materials, and acts as a technical master and coach to the Line leader and Operators.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots and maintains equipment to ensure the business meets production needs;  corrects breakdowns across all of operations in a quick and efficient manner and supports business critical maintenance work where and when needed
  • Identifies faulty equipment through observation and testing metrics; identifies replacement parts and performs repairs
  • Executes periodic maintenance tasks in partnership with the Reliability Mechanics to ensure that Production equipment is running at an optimal level.  
  • Understands and eliminates losses due to Process Failures (e.g settings, adjustments).
  • Coaches the line team and develops their capability by establishing line standards (TPM) for autonomous maintenance (AM).
  • Translate OEM material into meaningful standards for best results and acts as a trainer to all operators.
  • Represent ownership line/equipment result reviews in defined line and department forums.
  • Attends daily shift meetings to prioritize work orders and minimize downtime.
  • Maintains parts and tools inventory according to established standards. 
  • Lead continuous improvement events stemming from line/equipment losses (loss maps).
  • Completes maintenance reports, work orders, and problem-solving documentation SOPs, Work Instructions, and other paperwork according to established company policy. 
  • Maintains confidentiality of customer information, process, and other sensitive and confidential information. 
  • Exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works overtime as needed due to workplace demands.  Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum a high school diploma or GED with advanced technical or college training.
  • Minimum of 3 years maintenance experience in an FDA regulated environment.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of: FDA Good Manufacturing Practices and OSHA Safety Requirements; Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); pneumatics, conveyors, pumps, belt drives, sprockets, and mechanical machine components; electrical systems.
  • Skill in: troubleshooting mechanical equipment; analyzing problems. 
  • Ability to: read, comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions including Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions; wear required PPE as needed (list any specific PPE for the role); work as part of a team; develop and maintain good working relationships; operating hand, power and specialized tools; training others; work quickly and efficiently under pressure;  work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds manually. 
  • Warehouse and production environment, the noise level is usually moderate.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time in front of a computer, stand, walk, use hands to handle and feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, crouch, talk, hear, push and pull.
  • Exposure to frequent movement of motorized equipment throughout the facility, including electric pallet jacks, forklifts, heavy machinery, etc.
