The District Sales Manager will drive and lead a foodservice sales team and initiatives within the central Midwest territory. This includes maintaining and growing existing accounts, as well as actively managing the sales pipeline process to identify and convert new business opportunities. This position will lead a team of Territory Sales Managers and will be responsible for defining performance expectations, coaching, and developing sales talents and monitoring performance.  

The District Sales Manager must maintain strong customer relationships, offer outstanding customer service, achieve, and exceed planned sales levels, utilize CRM and other sales tools, and professionally represent Libbey in the marketplace.


  • Develop an annual business sales plan to maintain existing business and grow new sales
  • Define key strategies for growth within the foodservice channel, by targeting key end-user segments and partnering with sales and marketing on programs and new products
  • Drive the successful development of new business opportunities
  • Lead, coach and develop Territory Sales Managers, establishing clear performance expectations and objectives
  • Provide coaching, training, feedback and support to drive accountability and individual high performance
  • Develop and oversee successful onboarding of new sales talent
  • Address performance that is not meeting expectations, in a timely manner
  • Act as primary contact for escalation of issues brought forward by Territory Sales Managers
  • Facilitate and prepare monthly reports, review and analyze performance data to monitor and measure productivity, goal progress and activity levels
  • Maintain existing customers base, and develop new business through sales efforts, primarily at the end user level
  • Maintain a high level of relevant trade and product knowledge in order to have meaningful conversations with prospects
  • Plan and execute lead generation campaigns
  • Support Libbey’s marketing activities, e.g., product launches, promotions, advertising, etc. 
  • Communicate and collaborate regularly with Region Sales Director, other sales associates, engineering, new product development, marketing, etc.
  • Utilize CRM tool and other sales pipeline planning and review tools; provide feedback on these tools to allow for continuous improvement
  • Review, consolidate and submit credible, accurate forecasts of monthly sales volume, based on close connection to customer business plans, inventory builds, product mix and growth objectives
  • Participate in customer trade shows and sales meetings, assist with payment collections, address service and shipping related concerns, etc.
  • Areas covered include Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South & North Dakota, Nebraska

  • Bachelor’s degree highly preferred, or equivalent work experience
  • 5-7 years of experience selling tabletop products within the foodservice and/or hospitality industry preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Work requires travel to current/prospective customers, trade shows and Libbey events or training, which requires a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with success directing and motivating past sales teams
  • Strong conflict resolution, negotiation, and persuasion skills
  • Ability to develop and deliver compelling presentations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated forecasting and business planning experience
  • Strong organization skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and portray a positive company image
