The Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing an integrated, systems approach to injury and illness prevention and compliance, emphasizing both technical and human behavioral factors. They will facilitate hazard recognition and evaluations, gather and report on action items prioritized by risk, and through collaborative relationships, facilitate the progress on these action items to eliminate or mitigate risk to individuals and the business. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate the communication of EHS strategy, processes and tools consistent with EHS department strategy and culture.
  • Develop a comprehensive training matrix of requirements, and provides creative and efficient training opportunities to maximize efficacy and engagement for all supervisors, managers, and employees
  • Convert EH&S documents, policies, procedures and training into a controlled system with regular review
  • Using policies and procedures, develop and audit protocol to ensure adherence to established standards
  • To compliment policies and procedures, establish behavioral based risk mitigation methodology to improve the effectiveness of this balanced approach across the site.
  • Facilitate a plant safety committee, that displays effective problem solving, employee engagement and leadership accountability
  • Track monthly leading and lagging indicators and metrics; present the data in a clear concise style to create actionable insights for plant leadership
  • Assist EH&S leaders with investigation and mitigation of issues involving government EHS agencies and offices.
  • Develop a system to track OSHA, EPA, and other compliance obligation projects and actions to and ensure compliance follow up and sustainability
  • Assist in establishing internal audit processes of the systems and conduct assessments to ensure compliance and proactive continuous improvement

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors degree required, advanced degree preferred
  • 5 years of professional EHS experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work in a dynamic changing environment  
  • Ability to mobilize commitment, monitor progress, recommend modifications
  • Ability to partner with line management in implementation of change efforts
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with all levels of the plant to accomplish goals
  • Ability to simultaneously manage projects of different priorities, both short and long term in duration
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Able to get work done through others, through influence and motivation  
  • Strong planning, organizing and change management capabilities
  • Demonstrated use of structured problem-solving skills
  • Internal programs auditing experience
  • Strong verbal presentation and clear concise written communication skills appropriate to the audience
  • Knowledge and understanding of US, State and Federal OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations
  • Ability to support off-shifts and weekends occasionally
