Position Title: EC Accounting Coordinator

 

Department: Environmental Commodities

 

Reports to: Environmental Commodities Manager

 

Compensation: Hourly starting range $28 - $38, Commensurate to Skills and Experience

 

Hours: Full-time: Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm

Maas Energy Works is the leading developer and operator of agricultural waste-to-energy

systems in the United States. The Company designs, develops, constructs, and operates biogas powered renewable energy generation systems on dairy farms. Our projects include anaerobic digesters, biogas-powered electric generation, and renewable natural gas upgrading.

 

Position Description: Maas Energy Works (MEW) is seeking a EC Accounting Coordinator to join our Environmental Commodities (EC) department. Working with limited supervision, the EC Accounting Coordinator will oversee the day-to-day management and tracking of the dispensing contracts MEW has entered.  In doing so, the incumbent will establish relationships with the contracted entities and work with them to gather or create the needed documentation to maintain compliance with renewable fuel programs, most notable the Renewable Fuels Regulation (RFS) and Low Carbon Fuels Standard (LCFS).  The incumbent will also maintain a database showing all active and past contracts, production sources with monthly volumes produced, and monthly dispensing allocations.  Furthermore, the incumbent will work closely with other EC team members to ensure compliance with all programs and to ensure accurate generation of credits.

 

As a fast-growing company in a developing niche industry, the incumbent should possess strong problem-solving skills, be highly organized, self-motivated, and have a background and education in business administration, finance, accounting or a similar field.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a database showing all dispensing contract obligations, production sites, storage balances, and dispensing schedules.
  • Continually update forecasted production and dispensing volumes.  Incumbent will use these forecasts to anticipate any shortages or surpluses in gas and recommend appropriate action to resolve the shortage or surplus.
  • Work with dispensing stations to gather relevant information and documents required for compliance with RFS and LCFS programs.
  • Work with RFS and LCFS teams to allocate dispensing volumes to producers in accordance with dispensing contracts and applicable regulations.
  • Reconcile revenue and payments to external parties with Finance and Accounting teams.
  • Evaluate storage demand and maintain relationship with storage partners.
  • Deliver periodic reports showing historical trends and future projections to key decision makers within the organization.
  • Coordinate with Commercial team when new contracts are signed to ensure compliance with relevant program regulations.
  • Address ad hoc requests from the CEO or other MEW Directors.

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, or similar field.
  • 3-5 Years of related data management, accounting, or financial analysis experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in the renewable energy industry is preferred but not required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and VBA experience are preferred but not required.
  • Some travel is required.
  • Must be proficient in English.
