Compensation: $70,000 - $120,000 Starting Salary Range; Commensurate to Skills and Experience. 

Hours: Full-time Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm

Maas Energy Works is the leading developer and operator of agricultural waste-to-energy systems in the United States. The Company designs, develops, constructs, and operates biogas renewable energy generation systems, primarily on dairy farms. Our projects include anaerobic digesters, biogas-powered electric generation, and renewable natural gas upgrading.


Position Description 
Our company is looking for a Regulatory Affairs Specialist to join our Legal team and play a crucial role in ensuring that our renewable gas projects comply with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations. This role involves close collaboration with various departments to navigate the regulatory landscape, obtain necessary permits, and maintain compliance throughout the project lifecycle. Additionally, you will influence the development of the regulatory framework for renewable gas within the project portfolio to protect and advance Maas Energy Works’ interests.

Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance & Intelligence:
    • Monitor, interpret, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
    • Provide regulatory insights to the General Counsel, CEO, and other departments within the company.
    • Influence regulatory frameworks to protect company interests in current and upcoming RNG projects.
  • Permitting & Documentation:
    • Prepare and submit permit applications and regulatory filings.
    • Maintain accurate records of regulatory submissions.
    • Coordinate with regulatory agencies and respond to inquiries.
  • Project Support & Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Support project teams during planning, development, and operational phases.
    • Identify regulatory risks and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Communicate regulatory requirements to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with Corporate Relations for effective advocacy and lobbying.
  • Training & Development:
    • Conduct staff training in regulatory compliance and best practices.
    • Stay updated on industry developments and emerging regulatory issues.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong attention to detail; particularly with attention to analyzing and understanding laws, regulations, and energy & climate plans.
  • Strong understanding of gas trading, particularly biogas and related certificates, e.g. guarantees of origin, proof of sustainability, etc.
  • Two or more years of experience in regulatory affairs pertaining to regulations on trading of biomethane, and related certificates preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or ability to demonstrate expertise in similar markets or regulatory areas.  
  • Commercial acumen and ability to respond confidently in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
  • Highly motived and self-starter.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
