Compensation: Salary range $95,500- $165,500; Commensurate to Skills and Experience

Hours: Full-time: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm

Maas Energy Works is the leading developer and operator of agricultural waste-to-energy systems in the United States. The Company designs, develops, constructs, and operates biogas renewable energy generation systems, primarily on dairy farms. Our projects include anaerobic digesters, biogas-powered electric generation, and renewable natural gas upgrading.

Position Description 

Maas Energy Works (MEW) is looking for an experienced Professional Engineering Manager to lead the design and engineering of anaerobic digesters, biogas handling systems, and other associated renewable energy projects. The role is a 50/50 mix of (1) technical design and (2) leading and developing a team of 5-10 engineering and technical staff. The ideal candidate will be able to transition between highly technical engineering problems and interpersonal team development easily. The ideal candidate will enjoy variety, problem solving, and building systems from nothing. Maas Energy is looking for someone who enjoys a little pressure and finding solutions when under pressure. The Engineering Manager will be expected to work in a variety of disciplines; civil, mechanical, electrical, process, manufacturing, and other disciplines related to these renewable energy systems. 
The role will include championing engineering and design across the organization. As the lead engineering representative, all departments will look to this position for input and expertise on design and upgrades to existing and new systems. 
Additionally, the role will provide support for assembly, commissioning, and operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing biogas projects with a strong understanding of system optimization, and the ability to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, improve sustainability, and maximize profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead team of 5-10 technical staff.
  • Final design decision maker.
  • Develop and champion engineering team.  
  • Develop and update design standards, enforce usage across team
  • Serve as Professional Engineer reference for EIT staff
  • Interact with Project Management, Construction Management, Finance, and Manufacturing.
  • Develop best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output.
  • Manage cost and time constraints.
  • Perform risk assessments.
  • Provide process documentation and operating instructions.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Professional Engineering License in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical required. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, industrial engineering, or mechanical engineering required.
  • Proven work experience in engineering, preferably oil & gas or renewable fuels.
  • Excellent technical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Management experience preferred. 
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as API, ASME, and NFPA.
  • Working knowledge of process engineering software packages.
  • CAD experience, especially in the AutoDesk suite (i.e. Plant 3D).
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations.
  • Analytical thinker with interpersonal skills.
