Compensation: Hourly starting range $25 - $35; Commensurate with Skills and Experience

Hours: Full-time: Monday -Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm

Maas Energy Works is the leading developer and operator of on-farm, waste-to-energy systems in the United States. The Company designs, develops, constructs, and operates biogas renewable energy generation systems, primarily on dairy farms. Our projects include anaerobic digesters, biogas-powered electric generation, and renewable natural gas upgrading.


Position Description

Maas Energy Works (MEW) is seeking a self-motivated, organized person to join the permitting team. A Permitting Associate would be responsible for managing the execution of all applicable permits on projects. Working closely with the Project Management Dept., the permit team tracks project schedules, application statuses, compliance and mitigation measures, environmental consultations, and more. The Permit Associate would work with state and local agencies including CA Waterboard, air districts, planning and zoning departments, building departments, CDFW, public utilities, etc. Job tasks include organizing and procuring application documents, managing engineering revisions, communicating compliance measures and status to other areas of the company such as construction and operations departments. MEW is a fast-growing company looking for someone who can learn quickly and solve problems as the industry grows. 


Responsibilities 

  • Email and phone correspondence with agencies and team members
  • Communication statuses through project management software
  • Properly record information in company databases
  • Occasional travel to CA Central Valley and/or out-of-state projects
  • Prepare permit application packages
  • Manage/collect/summarize environmental consultations
  • Stay up to date with policy changes  

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Land Planning, Biology, or another related field preferred
  • Experience in NEPA, CEQA, CDFW, Transportation Agencies, Groundwater Management preferred
  • Air Quality Permitting experience highly preferred 
  • Experience in construction processes, and ability to establish construction guidelines as they relate to permit timelines preferred
  • Proficient in written and verbal communication
  • Highly organized
  • Attention to detail
  • Problem-solving, positive attitude
  • Willingness to learn an evolving industry
  • Experience in MS Outlook, MS Word, Google Applications, Dropbox
  • Must be proficient in English

Work Environment
This job mainly operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role with some travel required. This would require the ability to walk up and down stairs, and to enter, travel in, and exit vehicles and airplanes.
