JOB OVERVIEW:

The Project Engineer is responsible for overall plant and manufacturing process improvements in multiple facilities through the application of engineering standards, disciplines and methods to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company. 

 

Position can be based in any one of our locations: Miami, FL, Gainesville, GA, Baltimore, MD, Columbus, OH, Lenexa, KS, Hayward, CA, La Mirada, CA, Houston, TX, Salt Lake City, UT, Tukwila, WA. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  10. Supports plant maintenance programs through development of best practices, sharing of technical knowledge and insuring operational readiness as part of project execution.
  11. Maintains safety, health and environmental policies and procedures.
  12. Supports compliance with Federal and State legislation pertaining to all operational needs.
  13. Typically negotiates in a competitive or adversarial environment.
  14. Typically faces situations that have a variety of interpretations and require careful evaluation.
  15. Typically solves problems by considering courses of action within the framework of management’s goals and standards.
  16. Ability to attend various meetings as requested with minimal advanced notice.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Strategize technical and operational activities proactively and determine opportunities for infrastructure improvements.
  2. Conduct research and data analysis to identify opportunities that will provide cost effective, short and long-term solutions.
  3. Determine, implement and execute a timeline for the development, implementation and follow up on multiple assignments.
  4. Provide technical direction and guidance as well as hands-on project management.
  5. Execute assigned engineering projects, including bid process and vendor shipments.  Direct on-site personnel at various plants as required.
  6. Source and coordinate external suppliers, contractors and other service providers as required ensuring successful project completion.
  7. Present factually supported solutions to Sr. Vice President of Operations which include return on investment and the benefits of implementing proposed solutions for improvement.
  8. Create annual capital budget and ensure engineering goals and strategies are successfully executed within financial guidelines.
  9. Manage capital program.
  10. Develop and maintain effective communication with Senior Management and provide timely and accurate data.
  11. Delivers consistent superior product quality by enforcing quality standards, maintaining HACCP and GMP’s.
  12. Maximizes equipment operation by developing and scheduling preventive maintenance and organizing change-overs.
  13. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications, maintains personal network and participates in professional organizations.
  14. Insures fair, equitable and respectful treatment of all employees.
  15. Other duties as assigned by Senior Vice President of Operations.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common information, reports and other documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries from management and company representatives. Ability to effectively present information to management.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Field positions will be exposed to various unfamiliar conditions where Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn and which may include, but are not limited to: manufacturing and warehouse plants, and other venues as directed by supervisor. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but increases significantly in warehouse and manufacturing plants.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in the beverage industry, food manufacturing or liquid manufacturing preferred.
  • Willing to travel to develop and execute project assignments. Travel intensity ranges from 10% - 50%
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft business applications and various reporting software.
  • Ability to read schematics.
  • PLC experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, 5S and Kaizen.
  • Knowledge of OSHA laws and training. 
  • Exceptional interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid business acumen with analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Pass the background check, drug test and physical exam.
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible full time schedule that may include weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to manage transportation to various locations in organizational service areas, as required by duties.
