SUMMARY

Under minimal supervision, improve product reliability and associated processes with our vendors to support and maintain the very strong quality and customer service aspects that define the Pelican brand.  Drive a culture of continual improvement and instil a discipline of data capture and analysis. Communicate with vendors and Pelican’s internal QA, Engineering and Purchasing teams to understand and meet their needs through improvements to the products and processes of our supply chain.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Define, apply, and analyze the results of Pelican’s QA processes, including warranty returns, customer complaints, and i-house testing with Pelican’s procured parts.
    2. Understand and apply relevant national and international quality standards into the current quality management system. Use an auditing process that is linked to these standards in order to maintain standards at our vendors.
    3. Assist in the sourcing of new vendors to support both manufacturing and supply of components.
    4. Define, select, and apply vendor qualifications, evaluations, ratings and performance improvements for new and current vendors.
    5. Train and coach vendors in areas where analysis has shown a weakness or need for a greater level of understanding.
    6. Represent Pelican for supply chain activities, including quality, delivery and production schedules, and expediting critical components as necessary.
    7. Review the Asian market and provide regular reports to Pelican to identify a) potential new suppliers and products; b) economic trends that may impact the supply chain at both the national and vendor level; and c) assess designs and technical trends in the Asian market.
    8. Provide design input and review using product and vendor knowledge, analyze the manufacturing processes, and translate ideas into a viable design concept to produce a robust product and manufacturing process.
    9. Assist in the trial and qualification of plastic injected molded parts, ensuring that the design intent is maintained and that parts are produced to print.
    10. Review technical drawings from vendors and Pelican for accuracy and compliance and request changes as necessary.
    11. Identify and apply various testing methodologies to qualify and validate the design of new products and processes to ensure their fitness for use.
    12. Work with Pelican’s vendors to identify weakness in their processes and to develop accurate and efficient means of testing, measuring and inspecting supplied products.
    13. Actively support Pelican’s commitment to Quality and all quality objectives, with an emphasis on continual improvement throughout the supply chain.
    14. Perform special projects and additional duties as assigned by the Vice President of Worldwide Quality.

 

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES

    1. Bachelor’s Degree in a Quality Assurance, Engineering or related field, with 5+ years on-the-job experience.  Previous experience with plastic injected molding products preferred.
    2. Understands the fundamental national and international Quality Standards (ISO series).
    3. Must have excellent GD&T skills and an in depth understanding of selecting and using the appropriate measurement tools.
    4. Must have experience in a variety of deployment tools – benchmarking, performance measurement, project management tools.
    5. Must have experience in a variety of Quality Control Tools, for example, Pareto, flowcharts, cause and effect.
    6. Must have experience in applying quantitative analysis and statistical based decision making.
    7. Must have excellent analytical and organizational skills, be detail-oriented and able to work under minimum supervision.
    8. Must have excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills in both Mandarin and English.
    9. Must be proficient with Word, Excel, MSProject and/or other appropriate software; familiarity with MRP systems preferred.
    10. Must interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels of the organization.
    11. Must be flexible with work schedules and be available to work overtime on evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice, provided overtime follows guidelines established by local labor law. 
    12. Must be able to operate in a fast-paced organization and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
    13. Must be able to travel both domestically throughout China as well as internationally.
    14. Must have the ability to complete assignments within both the time frame and budget specified by Vice President of Worldwide Quality.
    15. Must demonstrate solid judgment, accomplish goals and champion ethical business practices at all times.

The approximate base compensation range is shown below. The actual offer may vary based on skills, experience and location.
