SUMMARY

The Production Supervisor I is responsible for executing the production schedules and processes for manufacturing to ensure that effective and efficient production flow is maintained. This position ensures that employee performance is adhered to within the manufacturing department and that the Company's safety, quality, cost and delivery objectives are being met. The Production Supervisor I implements continuous improvement activities in their areas and directly supervises Production Department Leads with emphasis on continuous
improvement of processes and training.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Focuses on meeting production schedules, using knowledge of machine capacity and equipment and skill capabilities; accomplishes work results, establishes priorities, monitors progress; revises schedules, and resolves problems.
  • Leads and ensures shift meetings occur to review SQCDI performance and facilitates continuous improvement efforts in Safety, Quality, Efficiency and Lead Time. Achieves results through coordinating and managing the improvement activities within the Production team
  • Uses Lean methods to improve production methods and equipment performance, and drives changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department.
  • Promotes a safe work environment through Safety Audits and reports potential safety hazards to the EHS Manager with immediate implementation of Prevention Reoccurrence Plans to eliminate all safety concerns.
  • Leads all injury investigations in their department and drives completion of the root cause analysis when applicable utilizing Practical Problem Solving Methodology.
  • Assures all departmental quality/process records comply with current ISO/ITAR standards and requirements for documentation control. Assures all employees follow work instructions and ISO/ITAR procedures.
  • Monitors department KPIs and reports performance for their shift at Daily Operations Review meetings understanding and acknowledging root causes of misses and taking action to improve.
  • Interprets and enforces Company policies and procedures to employees. Resolves personnel issues by analyzing data, investigating situations properly, identifying solutions and recommending action.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environments by educating and directing employees on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources. Maintains compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Leads continuous improvement and 5S/6S activities in the work areas and enforcing discipline to follow standards.
  • Champions Tier 1 & Tier 2 Layered Process Audits – continuously coaching Team Leads and team members to follow and improve standards while driving improvements and facilitating action item completion
  • Resolves quality problems, excessive scrap and/or assists employees in solving quality problems and implements corrective actions.
  • Recommends personnel actions to include promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures. Monitors and appraises employees' performance and development requirements and conducts Performance Reviews to enhance productivity and efficiency. Coaches, counsels, and disciplines employees. Takes responsibility and is held accountable for all work performed by subordinates.
  • Responsible for Manufacturing staff recruitment by providing oversight of the selection and orientation of new team members.
  • Responsible for Manufacturing employees' attendance; accurately records attendance notes, reviews and approves time worked within set deadlines.
  • Oversees Manufacturing training procedures and continues to develop centralized training documentation control in order to facilitate cross training opportunities and utilization of employee experience. Maintains cross training matrix and ensures back-ups for key positions and maximizes flexibility through strategic cross training
    • Monitors use and care of equipment and tools to ensure safe operation and maintenance within Company standards. Ensures operator cleaning is performed routinely and on time and ensuring proper maintenance and operation of equipment by requesting repairs in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for taking the lead in coordinating with manufacturing engineers and all support functions to identify root cause of production issues and implementing the corrective actions as well as seeing that the corrective actions become the norm in production.
  • Coaches team leads and team members to increase knowledge of the operation, increase flexibility, develop lean knowledge and promote increased operator ownership and accountability.
  • Performs all other assignments or tasks as requested/ assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED:

  • 2 year Associates Degree in business management or technical degree
  • 2+ years experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience leading / directing others
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to influence and motivate employees
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work well in a team environment
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to set expectations, hold employees accountable and demonstrate performance management.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including MS Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Proficient in developing charts and graphs from data sets in Excel
  • Experience in Root Cause Analysis Problem Solving
  • Must possess an awareness and understanding of performance against budget.
  • Champions a customer focus and awareness of customer needs.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the company.
  • Must maintain a “Hands-on” style of working, willing and capable of taking a lead role in technical problem-solving efforts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with ISO9001:2015,
  • Familiarity with SAP.
  • Experience working in a Lean Manufacturing environment

The approximate base compensation range is shown below. The actual offer may vary based on skills, experience and location.
