We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Tooling Technician to join our team.  

 

A Tooling Technician cleans and maintains molds and tooling utilized in the plastic injection molding process. The tech has knowledge of the maintenance of molds outside of the molding machine and the placement and loading of molds into the molding machine.This requires the ability to evaluate the type of and extent of repairs to the molds and knowledge of how to handle the molds safely and efficiently as well as any tools and cleaning fluids associated with the maintenance and repairs of these molds.

 

This is a great opportunity for an Entry Level Machinist that is looking to grow their skills working on complex tools for injection molding.  We have a great team that is eager to help you grow your skills and your career. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set-up and operate machine tools, such as: molding machine and tooling utilized in the plastic injection molding process.

  • Fit and assemble standard parts into assemblies or mechanisms, using hand tools.

  • Verify dimension and alignment, using measuring instruments such as: micrometers, height gauges and gauge blocks.

  • Examine and modify tools as required.

  • Diagnose, isolate malfunctions and perform simple repairs to molds and small tooling associated with those molds.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on machinery and mold repair activities.

  • Operates all tool room machinery and equipment

  • Assure proper inventory levels of required replacement parts for all tools.

  • Follows all Lock Out/Tag Out procedures and work instructions.

  • Responsible for maintaining equipment in working condition, clean and safe at all times.

  • Follows all safety procedures and regulations while handling machines, molds, any tools and cleaning fluids associated with the maintenance and repairs of molds.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experienced in tooling repair and providing machining support in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with injection mold maintenance and repairs.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
  • A Completed Technical Degree Program in Tool & Die Mold Making, Mechanical Technology or Machining Technology preferred.
  • Certification as a Master Molder is a plus.
  • High level of motivation and efficiency.
  • Ability to communicate across the engineering and production teams regarding the tools.
  • Must work well with others and have the ability to be a team member.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Knowledge of machine shop techniques
  • Lift and move a minimum of 30 pounds without assistance.
  • Operate mechanical equipment
  • Walk, bend, and climb stairs.
  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Wear appropriate safety equipment.
