OVERVIEW

The Manager of Purchasing drives profitable sales growth by ensuring proper inventory levels for sales in both retail, ECOM, and agency production channels.  The purchasing manager must improve and maintain communication with team members, peers, vendors, maintain KPI’, and look for areas to drive team performance through mentoring/coaching, training, and development of SOP’s.  The candidate must be able to identify issues impacting performance and develop, implement, and track performance on countermeasures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish buying strategy based on forecast analysis and engagement with associated teams to ensure team performance while focusing on customer satisfaction through accurate product delivery as well as proper Retail/Production/ECOM inventory levels
  • Establish and maintain group performance KPI’s including root cause identification and countermeasure development/tracking.
  • Provide monthly purchasing budget to finance to be included in monthly business performance
  • Provide weekly updates to Management focusing on KPI performance and RCCM (Root Cause / Corrective Measures) actions
  • Manage and SLOB (Slow Moving and Obsolete) inventories and develop plans to reduce SLOB materials in accordance to guidelines
  • Make recommendations for continuous improvement in purchasing processes, ERP systems, and be actively involved in purchasing processes of other departments.
  • Ensure pricing updates are implemented prior to expiring pricing
  • Open communication with vendors on new products, product training, and ensure information is communicated through the organization
  • Establish and communicate core vendor performance metrics and develop strategies to develop or replace poor performing vendors
  • Provide mentorship and training to associates to help develop vital skillsets and improve the efficiencies of the purchasing team
  • Establish and maintain standard operating procedures
  • Ensure document repository is maintained with current information, changes need to be communicated to stakeholders
  • Manage inventory from vendor to customer PO, any issues relating to delivery including pricing, receipt issues, quantity discrepancies, or other related delivery issues
  • Negotiate and close delivery issues and communicate issues to stakeholders 
  • Ensure that ERP systems are updated to show accurate PO/SO expected delivery dates
  • Managing all buying/purchasing team for distribution businesses
  • Inventory Management
  • Purchase Order Management

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years of experience buying, planning or purchasing with experience in multi-channel fulfillment
  • Excel, Power Querry, Power BI, MS Office Proficiency
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • 5 years managing high volume Purchasing/Planning Teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, mathematics or equivalent preferred
  • Firm understanding on turns, lifecycle management, safety stock
  • Team building: Coaching, training, and team development based on needs
  • Financial Reporting
