Position Summary
The Sleep Lab technician’s responsibilities include diagnostic and therapeutic sleep studies ordered under the direction of a medical physician. The tech is responsible for performing tests on pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations. The following studies are performed: diagnostic sleep studies, CPAP/BIPAP titration studies and multiple sleep latency testing and the scoring of the test results.
Education/Qualifications
- Must be a graduate of an accredited polysomnographic technology program accredited by the Committee on allied Health education and Accreditation or equivalent formal training.
- Must have current BCLS certification.
- Registered or certified respiratory therapist with formal sleep training is acceptable.
- Eligible for/or successful completion of the registration exam by the board of registered Polysomnographic Technologists.
