Job Title: Project Accountant II – Global Geosciences 

Job Summary:
Woocheen LLC is looking for a detail-oriented Project Accountant II to join its Global Geosciences’ accounting team. The Project Accountant will work closely with project managers to ensure clients are billed accurately and in a timely manner, all costs associated with projects are posted accurately and maintain the projects module within the accounting system.

The Project Accountant will play a significant role in developing accounting processes for Seas Geosciences, LLC, our newest start-up, and DME Systems Ltd, our latest acquisition. Other UK companies may be folded into the accountant’s area of responsibility over time. The offshore industry is fast-paced and ever-changing, demanding creativity, patience, strong financial analysis and organizational skills. The Project Accountant must be a self-starter, able to set goals and objectives with little direction in a fast-paced and changing environment. 

Duties/Responsibilities:
•    Maintain the accounting system’s projects module, to include setting up new projects, establishing budgets and keeping track of active project codes.
•    Responsible for ensuring the operations team is posting time and materials to the accounting system timely and accurately.
•    Responsible for tracking PSA Contracts, ensuring our contractors are paid accurately and utilized efficiently.
•    Manage the accounts receivable process to include drafting invoices, obtaining project manager approval and sending to customers.
•    Maintain project WIP schedule.
•    Assist the business development team with bids and proposals by establishing project budgets.
•    Hold regularly scheduled project review meetings with Project Managers reviewing the project P&L, promoting project efficiency and managing potential project overruns.
•    Track and report the cash flow generation of the project.
•    Assist Finance Manager with month-end and year-end closing processes.
•    Assist in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
•    Perform other accounting tasks as needed

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance or Accounting.
  • Accountancy qualification.
  • Five years of experience working in a similar role.
  • Experience with foreign currency and international operations.
  • Experience developing an hourly rate of in-house equipment used in projects and making sure it's properly costed on projects. 
  • Experience in marine construction or offshore geotechnical industry.

Required Skills/Abilities: 
•    Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
•    Comprehensive knowledge of US/UK GAAP.
•    Familiarity with Dynamics 365 and related tools preferred.
•    Ability to work independently, multi-task and handle competing priorities.
•    Strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
•    Ability to meet stringent deadlines and provide reports on a timely basis.
•    Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
•    Special attention to those who are self-motivated with a sense of urgency, have a hands-on mentality, and approach work with a ‘no job is too small’ attitude.

Pay range is $50-60 GBP salary, based on experience level.

Work Environment: 
Ideally this position is based in the South Shields/Newcastle area of the UK. Depending upon the location of the successful candidate, the position may be an in-office, hybrid or remote role.
