Job Summary
Examples of work to be performed are: Safe operation and maintenance of heavy equipment including, motor graders, hydraulic excavators, rubber tire backhoe, front-end loaders, asphalt screed, shouldering machine, chip spreader, screening plant, rock breaker and crusher, tractors/mowers, paint truck, articulated off road dump trucks, bulldozers, soil and asphalt compactors, power brooms and street sweepers. Other work to include plowing snow, spreading salt and sand, grading shoulders, cleaning culverts, patching roads, maintenance of bridges, putting up and removing snow fence. Performs any other related highway maintenance and construction work as required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:  

 Perform construction, maintenance and repair work on Town, County and State Highways.
 Operates automated machine guidance on equipment.
 Operate equipment used in highway construction and maintenance.
 Plow snow and salt / sand icy Town, County and State roads as assigned.
 Perform daily operator maintenance checks and preventative maintenance.
 Perform minor repair on machinery and equipment.
 Perform traffic control and flagging as needed.
 Operate a chainsaw for brush / tree cutting along road right-of-way.
 Responsible for the maintenance of bridges.
 Manual labor such as shoveling, carrying, moving and lifting materials as needed.
 Performs any other highway maintenance and construction work as assigned.

Requirements:
-High School Diploma or GED.
-Three to five years related experience.
-Requires a valid Wisconsin driver's license with CDL (proper endorsements) and adequate insurance as required by County Policy. MSHA certification. Have or have the ability to obtain tanker endorsement within 3 months of employment.
