JOB SUMMARY

 

Maintenance Mechanic 3 works on multiple tasks which may include, but are not limited to, maintenance and repair of all plant equipment (including facility and grounds). Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and industrial electrical as well as Industrial PLCs. Fabrication of equipment, including use of various welding techniques; MIG, TIG, and stick welding. Provide leadership to maintenance employees in absence of Industrial Process Engineer and facilitate work assignments to ensure facility is meeting needs. Manage projects on behalf of Maintenance Department.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  • Perform all Maintenance Mechanic 2 functions and skills.
  • Understand and troubleshoot electrical power distribution system.
  • Understand and troubleshoot motors and motor controls.
  • Understand and troubleshoot electronic controls systems to include PLCs, VFDs, and HMIs
  • Learn and maintain a working knowledge of the current NEC regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical machinery.
  • Safely remove, repair, or replace machine parts both mechanical and electrical.
  • Analyze machine error codes and information from operators to diagnose equipment problems.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of Ammonia Refrigeration Systems by performing effective troubleshooting on Refrigeration Systems
  • Demonstrate a strong, proficient working knowledge in at least one of the following areas:
    • Electrical and PLC Systems.
    • Refrigeration Systems (Ammonia and Freon) including regulatory compliance of RMP/PSM.
    • Engineering and Fabrication.
  • Complete all required paperwork correctly.
  • Interact and communicate effectively with other co-workers and management in a team environment.

 

OTHER FUNCTIONS

 

  • Fabrication of equipment, including use of various welding techniques: MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
  • Work effectively with HACCP and Plant Safety Teams.
  • Learn and comply with all corporate and department work safety rules, including LOTO, Arc Flash, and Confined Space.
  • Work effectively at heights of 40 feet and higher, as well as entering and working in confined spaces.
  • Perform proper sanitation techniques to comply with food safety standards.
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong, proficient working knowledge in all the following areas:
    • Electrical and PLC Systems.
    • Refrigeration Systems (Ammonia and Freon) to include regulatory aspects e.g., RMP/PSM.
    • Engineering and Fabrication.
  • Possess advanced electrical skills and knowledge Including:
    • Switchgear, Switchboards, and MCC’s (MCC = Motor Control Center).
    • Control Devices Electrical devices, transmitter, sensors, I to P Control.
  • Possess certifications within or related to one of the following: CMRP, RETA, CARO, or PLC Programming.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Must be 21 years or older at time of hire.
  • Must have at least 7 years of experience as Maintenance Mechanic or equivalent role.
  • Must be able to work independently on any assigned shift with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to comprehend and carry out written and verbal work orders and instructions.
  • Basic computer skills – Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to read and interpret Blueprint and Schematic (mechanical and electrical).
  • Must pass and maintain valid forklift certification.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English, and demonstrate excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to pass all applicable testing.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

  • Must be able to lift and carry weights of up to 55 pounds at varying frequency and duration.
  • Must be able to repeatedly climb stairs/vertical tank ladders at heights of 40 feet and higher.
  • Work at various heights 40 feet or higher, as well as in confined spaces.
  • Work with hazardous chemicals and wear a face mask and appropriate PPE.
  • Requires bending, lifting, climbing, pulling, and pushing.

 

COMPENSATION

 

  • Hourly Pay Rate Posted: $32.25/hr.
  • Actual compensation will be based on factors such as experience; skills, knowledge, and abilities; education; and other position related factors.
