Overview of Role/Job Purpose:

The Product Deployment Senior Business Analyst will help drive initiatives for program and product delivery in a transformational, fast-paced environment at VertexOne. As a Business Analyst with specialized knowledge of the energy industry and billing systems operations for non-regulated markets, this position creates business requirement documents and/or user stories, responds to client requests and questions, keeps up to date on utilities market mandates/rules in the energy business, and assists in utilities’ market mandate changes. The role will apply basis project management knowledge in the planning and execution of multiple concurrent initiatives.

The role is client facing and requires a positive "can do" attitude with a passion for delivery, self-motivation, and a proactive approach. Individuals need to take responsibility, be organized, and demonstrate a professional approach to their work.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Serve as industry and product expert for product implementations
  • Provide guidance to clients, 3rd parties and/or project teams.
  • Communicate business rules and technical information to clients as needed.
  • Understand and assist in the development of best practices for business procedures.
  • Analyze the business objectives of clients and utilities by gathering information and creating business requirements documents.
  • Partner with programmers and project team to review business requirement documents, user stories, communicate business objectives, and answer any questions on the business requirement documents.
  • Triage issues with team members and/or clients.
  • Research and update utilities market mandates and business rules.
  • Utilize appropriate agile, sequential and hybrid methodologies to manage the successful delivery.
  • Implement deployment best practices, techniques, and standards throughout the entire project execution.
  • Follow established governance model to ensure project success
  • Monitor project progress and provide ongoing project status reporting. Escalate issues in a timely manner
  • Up to 10% travel to client sites for business purposes only

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years Business Analyst experience in the de-regulated energy markets
  • Product experience with VXretail (formerly Utilibill) ideal.
  • Strong client focus
  • Excellent organizational skills: ability to manage multiple responsibilities, while effectively focusing on priority issues
  • Project management experience desired, especially in delivering software.
  • Highly organized and able to wear multiple hats in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment; a driving force who manages toward clarity and solutions.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Possess a successful track record in setting priorities, shaping processes, guiding investment in people and technology, and developing an infrastructure that creates a more robust and efficient operation.
  • Ability to learn quickly and provide value when placed in unfamiliar settings
  • Ability to manage internal and external expectations.
  • Ability to meet deadlines on aggressive schedules.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Excellent communicator of ideas both orally and through documents and other visual aids
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • MS Office Suite Proficiency (including Microsoft Project and Visio)
