We have an immediate opening for an experienced Senior Manager, Facilities and Maintenance.  This role leads, plans, organizes, directs, and measures all facilities and maintenance related activities and is responsible for maintaining and repairing production and facility equipment (e.g. manufacturing lines and all grounds, buildings, utilities and infrastructure support) to ensure the facility is producing quality products on-time and in-full so the company can meet financial goals and objectives

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads, assigns and manages the activities of the Facilities and Maintenance departments to ensure optimal results in safety, quality, productivity and cost; develops work plans,  oversees and prioritizes responsibilities, tasks and projects.
  • Trains, coaches and develops employees within the department to ensure performance expectations and department objectives are met according to established standards; manages performance expectations and delivers feedback.
  • Establishes a 24/7 capability support system of resources to plant operations to ensure production lines can run according to established standard; leads annual shutdown and maintenance programs (e.g. prepares facility for winter) and establishes collaborative working relationships internally and externally with selective vendor partners. 
  • Monitors and maintains building utilities (e.g., natural gas, potable water, electricity, steam, compressed air, chilled water, USP water, storm drains, and process drains) for uninterrupted service, capacity planning, and conservation opportunities; makes recommendations for improvements on utilities. 
  • Establishes and implements facilities and maintenance processes and systems to effectively manage and monitor the maintenance operation and activities, including but not limited to third part vendor management (e.g. janitorial services, pest control), spare part inventory, corrective repairs, preventative maintenance, work order and change control management, and resource utilization and productivity. 
  • Identifies, leads, and drives opportunities around equipment and/or methods to reduce safety risks and improve operational equipment effectiveness (OEE), LEAN manufacturing principles, labor utilization and quality requirements. 
  • Coordinates and participates in root cause analysis on OEE shortfalls.  Develops and executes corrective actions that improve equipment performance, cost, quality, and customer service. 
  • Drives improvements during equipment changes to deliver new procedures, breakdown reduction, root-cause analysis, risks and hazards analysis toolkits and manages recurrence tracking processes.
  • Coordinates resources to deliver reliable maintenance processes, including 5S, Visual Factory and spare parts inventories for all new equipment, existing equipment, and modifications.
  • Develops departmental budget and controls operational costs, including but not limited to inventory costs, scrap rates and equipment downtime, to ensure the maintenance department operates within the set budget.
  • Performs all work in a manner that is consistent with the company’s quality system and FDA good manufacturing practices, includes maintaining a clean and orderly work areas at all times.
  • Follows, promotes and enforces KDC’s safety and environmental policies, practices and procedures.  Leads and promotes safety awareness and responsibility within the department and facility to ensure safe work conditions for all employees, contractors and visitors.  
  • Supports the safety initiatives and processes that help identify and correct any unsafe work conditions.   Provides recommendations for improvement to management and the safety department. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • BA/BS in Engineering or related technical field.  In lieu of degree, 10 years of experience in production environment (preferably FDA regulated) with PLC systems, conveyor and electrical control systems.
  • Five years of management experience in a filling and packaging environment, preferably cosmetics or pharmaceutical.
  • Experience with LEAN manufacturing principles. 
  • SAP experience and facilities management certification, strongly preferred.
