Position Summary:

The Training and Education Manager will be primarily responsible for driving and supporting a broad range of training programs and educational activities in Japan, including identification of training opportunities and co-ordination of projects to support medical education of Atrial Fibrillation & Pain management and its products, for internal & external stakeholders (Cardiac Surgeons, Electrophysiologists, Thoracic Surgeons).

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Implement policies, procedures, practices, and strategy for achieving comprehensive Training programs for AtriCure Therapies for both internal employees/distributor teams and external customers in Japan
  • Initially, this role will focus primarily on internal employees/ distributors training programs to start with – new hire training, refresher trainings, new product launches and other new. This will be later followed by implementing professional education programs for different HCP stakeholders (Cardiac Surgeons, EP’s, Thoracic Surgeons, OR nurses, Technicians) on AtriCure Therapies within Japan
  • In addition, the position will be responsible for supporting the company's efforts to formulate and implement all training and development strategies.

The roles and responsibilities will be focused on being strategic, execution of new initiatives and operational excellence as detailed below.

Strategy Development & Execution

Creating Customized Training Strategies:

  • To create a Japan focused T&E strategy based on the specific needs Japan and broadly aligned with the overall APGC Strategy
  • Professional education programs to drive therapy adoption of core therapies
  • Internal training plans to be created based on the training gaps and needs of the commercial/ distributor teams
  • Plans to be created before the start of the new financial year – training calendar to be developed that includes launch of new initiatives, new-hire / refresher trainings
  • Partner with Marketing for training of teams during new product launches within Japan

Drive Professional Education:

  • Execute branded professional education programs that will drive therapy adoption of core therapies in Japan
  • Track the post-training adoption of procedures by working with the distributor teams and marketing
  • Identify faculty and proctors by therapy and region – proctor onboarding for new proctors
  • Create a list of program faculty and proctors and update it regularly
  • Ensure all programs are executed within the guidelines provided by legal and compliance

Internal Training:

  • Conduct training for the distributor team new hires in partnership with the APGC team
  • Collaborate closely with the APGC training team on new content and topics being developed as part of the AFE training
  • Refresher trainings (at least once a year) and trainings before new product launches to be done as and when needed
  • Drive APGC initiatives like E-Quiz, Nuggets of Wisdom, Journal Club etc. for the Japan distributor team by localizing the content.

Operational Excellence

Program Execution:

  • Detailed planning & organization for T&E programs prior to execution
  • Create checklists
  • Ensure the branding, look and feel of the programs in the region are consistent and standardized with the APGC level branding
  • Support cadaver lab preparation, planning and execution, shipping and maintenance of lab kits, and other ad hoc projects when needed

Training Program Evaluation:

  • Ensuring high-quality execution of the trainings programs as per the schedule
  • Analyze & document the feedback data to measure effectiveness of the Training programs and identify areas of improvement for subsequent programs
  • Work with the local teams on improving the quality of programs by sharing tangible and concrete action items
  • Assists in preparing updates and reports for senior management

Tracking:

  • Track adoption of therapies following the execution of the EPIC programs (all therapies) when the role expands into professional education
  • Record and track Proctors being added to the Proctor Pool based on the selection criteria

Simulator Management:

  • Be responsible for tracking the Utilization of existing simulators (called mini-CADets) in Japan – ensure that CADet champions are making the entries regularly on the tracker portal
  • Deployment of new mini-CADets within Japan - signing off new reps/team members on the CADets
  • Be in-charge of the upkeep of the heart models from the CADets – repair of tears/holes created during training sessions; sending the hearts beyond repair to the global team for being repaired and/or being replaced.
  • Work closely with the APGC team in-charge of CADets for any updates on models, new models being created, or any support needed for logistics.
  • Manage logistics for MIS/Open CADets being sent out for CoE programs/ training villages/conferences in Japan
  • Identify needs for procuring more CADets in the region and communicate the same with the Director of Training & Education

A little about yourself:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum of five years related experience in the medical device industry preferable
  • Excellent presentation, communication and influencing skills
  • Fluency in both Japanese and English is mandatory
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management and prioritization skills
  • Collaborative and having an open mind-set receptive to new ideas
  • Strong strategic, analytical and conceptual capabilities
  • Results and performance driven.
  • Project planning
  • Ability to interface with customers and key opinion leaders.
  • Experience interacting with physician faculty and senior sales management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Must be creative, self-motivated, proactive, intuitive, organized, flexible, and deadline oriented
  • Willingness to travel extensively (minimum of 40%)
