POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will have responsibilities in key areas such as data coding/cleaning, programmatically deriving measures to be used in analysis, and data visualizations (i.e. production of graphs, tables, and listings) summarizing data. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, critical thinking, and effective communication skills. We’re seeking someone who is proactive, enjoys working in a collaborative environment, and intellectually curious, with a desire to learn. This internship position will start in the summer and continue into the fall semester.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

  • Using statistical software, derive analytic datasets, generate summaries of descriptive statistics and hypothesis tests, and display results using data originating from clinical trials and/or data registries.
  • Create simple random samples.
  • Contribute to writing statistical analysis plans.
  • Write summaries of findings from results generated as from statistical analyses, to be included in results section(s) of clinical study reports (CSR).

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, life sciences, epidemiology, public health, or closely related discipline or equivalent industry experience.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 applications (i.e. Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, & PowerPoint)
  • Programming (e.g. in SAS, R/Python, STATA, SPSS), SQL or data query language skills or experience is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to, through presentations and/or in writing, effectively communicate results of one’s work with other team members.
  • Availability in the Fall semester.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS or master’s degree in biology, epidemiology, biostatistics or public health.
  • Experience with Machine Learning.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to regularly walk, sit, or stand as needed
  • Ability to occasionally bend and push/pull as needed
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
