Summary: The Segment Director will manage sales activities in the North American market, identify and engage with customers, and expand current business. This role involves collaboration with the Global Business Development Director and Supply Chain.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and execute strategies for the growth of Terova’s Spices & Herbs category business in North America.
  • Establish and expand Terova’s industry presence by creating a network of customer connections.
  • Achieve planned revenue, contribution margin, and related growth objectives. Manage negotiations with clients and customers regarding pricing, cost delivery, and special promotions.
  • Develop and maintain strong global customer relationships.
  • Actively support the development of the global segment sales through international customer alliances and strategic supply partnerships.
  • Be a steward of Griffith/Terova Purpose and Values in all external and internal actions and activities aligned with the business.
  • Manage the sales process using targeted BI and Sales tools (CRM).
  • Achieve the overall annual budget for the Spices and Herbs Segment in North America.
  • Coordinate with Customer Service and Supply Chain to achieve targeted OTIF and customer service levels.
  • Engage with customers to identify partnership areas and make a business case for Terova’s product portfolio and sustainability platform.
  • Prepare and submit business analysis and business reports.
  • Represent Terova at trade shows, conferences, conventions, sales meetings, and training courses.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university. A post-graduate degree in Food Science/Marketing/Business is desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the food industry with a strong record of B2B sales of Spice/Herb/Extract in the North American Market.
  • Solid understanding of Asian/European/North American herbs and spices, their supply chain, and the competitive landscape in North America.
  • Strong network at Senior Buyer/Product Development/Brand/C-Suite Leadership level in companies actively buying/importing herbs and spices.
  • Familiarity with quality, performance and sustainability standards for B2B sales of spices/herbs/extracts.
  • Ability to differentiate product and service offerings and create value added sales/supply opportunities for the category.
  • Ability to manage long-term strategic relations, annual contracts and spot/short-term sales opportunities.
  • Experience in selling high-quality/IPM spices and herbs from local stocks and as imports.
  • Extensive understanding of top-line sales and profitability.
  • Knowledge of bottom-up budgeting and forecasting.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work as a team-player effectively with international teams. Ability to comfortably operate in a multi-locational, multi-cultural matrix organization.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to travel up to 70% of the time internationally.
