Sustainability Specialist – Sustainable Supply Chain

The role key focus is support global initiatives around Scope 3 carbon reduction, sustainable procurement and supplier ESG engagement as well as support Peli BioThermal customers through LCA modeling.  

Our Role

•    Support delivery of Peli BioThermal sustainability strategy
•    Assist in tracking Scope 3 emissions 
•    Taking a leading role in working with suppliers on measuring and improving their sustainability performance in line with Peli BioThermal strategy. 
•    Acting as an ESG auditor for Peli BioThermal sites, suppliers and businesses partners. 
•    Helping identify and implement operational change to reduce core business carbon emissions be that through improving supply chain/procurement processes, identifying reduction opportunities within operation and services, across our fleets or other general day to day business activity.
•    Undertake life cycle and embodied carbon assessment for internal processes and products
•    Support business processes to streamline environmental data management and automation. 
•    Ensure compliance with industry ESG legislation and stay updated on relevant regulations and best practices
•    Perform impact assessments to identify, evaluate, and mitigate ESG risks related to supply chain and product
•    Attend project meetings to ensure that sustainability is considered when implementing new products, materials or supplier.
•    Develop data gathering and reporting KPIs, tools and progress documentation related to product and supplier’s ESG performance.
•    Uses data and statistical analysis to identify opportunities for improvement, prioritizes projects, and justifies proposed actions.
•    Drafts and delivers presentations and reports to communicate sustainability initiatives highlighting their effectiveness and environmental impact.
•    Assist with sustainability reporting across Scope 1, 2 & 3 such as CDP, Ecovadis and other.
•    Act as a mentor and coach to the field, international and technical teams.
•    Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager.
•    Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance with the job.

This is a site-based role, located in Leighton Buzzard. Commutable from Bedfordshire, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, Luton, Northamptonshire and surrounding areas

What you will need to be successful

•    Education: Formal Sustainability or Environmental Science degree
•    Minimum of 3 years in similar role 
•    Must be proficient in Excel, Statistical Analysis Software, LCA software and GHG calculations.
•    Knowledge of ISO14001 and ISO45001
•    Trained auditor
•    Excellent analytical and statistical skills
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•    Excellent teamwork and teambuilding skills with proven ability to influence cross-functional teams.
•    Must be able to travel to supplier and other sites when required, both in UK and internationally.
•    In depth understanding of ESG reporting requirements and regulations

Physical requirements and working conditions 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, use hands/fingers).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stoop, kneel, crouch).
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities such as data entry or typing.
